Fish balls in the oven

Delicious, rosy, for the whole family for dinner! Fish balls cooked in the oven are very tender, soft inside and with a crispy crust on top. Cook them quickly, simply and conveniently — the cutlets will not fall apart when turned over. In addition, frying in the oven does not need a lot of oil.

Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 1 h
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

How to bake fish balls in the oven? Prepare the products. I took a ready-made fish fillet, I have pollock, but it's better to cut the fish into fillets ourselves. The purchased fillet is very watery, besides it is much more expensive than whole fish. Lard is necessary to soften the minced meat, but if the lard confuses you, replace it with the same amount of butter.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

Pre-defrost the fillet, wash it and squeeze it well from excess moisture (if you have it, like me, purchased). Cut it into medium pieces and pass it through a meat grinder with a fine grate. Put the minced meat in a bowl.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

Then pass pork fat through a meat grinder and add it to a bowl with minced fish. If you took the butter, then just cut it into small pieces and let it melt a little.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

Peel the onion, rinse and cut into pieces. Pass it through a meat grinder after the fat. And chop the onion, and the remains of the fat will be driven out of the meat grinder. Add the onion to a bowl with minced meat and bacon, mix everything well.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

Add 3 tablespoons of breadcrumbs to the minced meat. In no case should it be a soaked loaf or white bread. Fish mixed with onions is already quite a liquid mass, and after adding such bread or rolls, you may not collect minced meat at all. If you want a bun, just grate it on a coarse grater or grind it in a blender.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

Add one egg, salt, pepper to the bowl with minced meat and mix until smooth. Cover the bowl with minced meat and leave for 30 minutes so that the breadcrumbs absorb the liquid and the minced meat becomes dense.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7.

Turn on the oven to warm up to 180 degrees. On a flat plate, pour the remaining breadcrumbs for breading. Divide the minced meat into 5 parts, form meatballs (small round cutlets) and roll them in breadcrumbs.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8.

Grease the baking dish with vegetable oil and put the meatballs in it.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9.

Pour a little hot water into the mold — a third of the height of the cue balls. Put it in a hot oven and bake the meatballs for 20-25 minutes until cooked. They should turn red on top. Remove and let stand for 5-10 minutes.

  10. Step 10:

    Step 10.

    Bon appetit!

Such meatballs can be served both hot and cold, with any side dish to your taste. Or you can just cut vegetables, add greens and serve them to the meatballs.

How to properly cut a whole fish into fillets? Remove the tail, head and fins. Cut the carcass along the spine to the spine. Turn it on its side. With a sharp knife, cut the meat from the backbone bone. Turn the carcass over and cut the fillet from the other side. Clean the inside by removing the black film, as it is bitter and will spoil the taste. Rinse and be sure to dry well.

Be sure to wash the eggs before use, as even the seemingly clean shell may contain harmful bacteria. It is best to use food detergents and a brush.
